Bollinger B13 - new addition to the product line?
Bollinger has just launched a new special edition of their vintage champagne , which will be a tribute to both the grape, the vintage and the environment/climate. They managed to become HEV (High Environmental Value) certified, which is the best certificate you can get when we talk about the environment. That is why the gift box is also produced from recycled material. The champagne is produced by Bollinger and is from 2013, hence the name B13.
2013 was a distinctive year, the winter was long, the spring wet and hesitant, the summer very hot and with violent thunderstorms. The year 2013 can safely be called the year of extremes. Due to these weather conditions, the champagne giant, Bollinger, decided to harvest the grapes as late as possible, in order to get the perfect ripeness. The year was so turbulent that the grapes acquired such a distinctive taste that it could not be included in one of their 3 current product lines of vintage series. Despite such a different and turbulent year, with Bollinger's technical know-how, it does not stop making a champagne out of the ordinary!
B13 is with a delicious and elegant freshness with notes of citrus and yellow stone fruits as well as a flattering note of tarte tatin and almonds, combined with the classic and precise Bollinger minerality, this distinctive vintage champagne, B13, charms its way into one. This is really a champagne you MUST try.
Can we expect another shot at the vintage series? Again, it is not known if this is a once-in-a-lifetime champagne, but we certainly hope to see a new one from Bollinger. We can only hope for a B14 !
