Ardbeg An Oa is a more recent addition to the Ardbeg range. The perfect combination of virgin oak, sherry and bourbon casks in the aging gives a beautifully rounded whisky, with a strong smoky character that works beautifully with sweet, syrupy notes. The whiskey is almost a study in balance between the powerful and velvety expression! An Oa has received a great 95.5/100 points in Jim Murray's Whiskey Bible.
Colour : Deep golden.
Aroma : Caramel, aniseed, dates and hints of peach and banana. All backed by nice enveloping smoke.
Tasting notes : The smooth, creamy texture of the whiskey gives a syrupy sweetness on the palate, where notes of milk chocolate, orange and smoked tea mingle with, cigar smoke and, somewhat unusually, grilled artichokes, before a long, seductive and smoky aftertaste sets in.
Serving suggestions : Should be enjoyed neat, possibly with a few drops of water.
