Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the newest member of the Ardbeg whiskey family. As usual, when Ardbeg stirs, there has been a lot of buzz, and especially the age, the "mere" 5 years, has received a lot of attention. Many distilleries would perhaps have released a whiskey like this without an age statement (what is called "NAS" / No Age Statement), but instead they have chosen to focus on the fact that this is a whiskey where Ardbeg's fiery and characterful distillate is not hidden of the dish, but emerges clear and untamed in all its smoky prowess! Wee Beastie is bottled at 47.4% without chill filtration.
Colour : Light golden.
Aroma : Lots of freshly ground, black pepper, resin, tar, smoke and dark chocolate.
Tasting notes : Good power in the mouth, with sensations of smoked bacon, chilli, chocolate and eucalyptus.
Serving suggestions : Should be enjoyed neat, possibly with a drop of water or two.
