The Champagne brand Rare was founded in 1976 under the great Champagne house Piper-Heidsieck. The new brand was to form the foundation stones for a higher quality and the very first person to taste Rare was the French queen
Marie-Antoinette . From here comes the metal gold crown around the bottle, which has been the brand's identity since 1976.
Today, Rare is an independent brand which is no longer associated with Piper-Heidsieck, perhaps even close to being produced in the same place. Rare therefore still benefits from being allocated the very best grapes from Piper-Heidsieck's huge fields and receives special treatment in all processes including the +10 years of storage time in the long cellars.
Vintage 2008, the newest addition to the trunk!
After +10 years in the cellars at Piper-Heidsieck, Rare 2008 was ready for release in July 2021 and as the first in history with a storage potential of +2050. Extremely rare, however obvious when you read the reviews.
The reviewers have spoken and given it 96→99/100P by Essi Avellan MW and 97/100P by Alison Napjus.
In the words of Essi Avellan " It is almost like a time bomb! Beautifully detailed nose with fresh fruity profile with pineapple, lemon, sweet vanilla and roasted coffee beans meeting liquorice and smoky almonds "
Great experience today and with huge potential over the next 20-30 years!
