Publication of the Krug cookbook

Krug believes that each individual wine in the finished blend in Krug Grande Cuvée and Krug Rosé is in itself like a single ingredient.

Each year, the House of Krug honors this philosophy by celebrating a single ingredient and inviting renowned Krug ambassador chefs to create food pairings to accompany the latest edition of Krug Grande Cuvée and Krug Rosé.

In 2023, Krug Grande Cuvée and Krug Rosé will be accompanied by the great taste universe of the citrus fruit, and more than 100 chefs representing 25 countries have taken up the challenge and created recipes with the citrus fruit in focus.

Krug Rosé is an unexpected rosé champagne that combines elegance and boldness – inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the House of Krug to conceive a rosé champagne that did not exist before, a rosé champagne that could be recreated every year. ..

Krug Rosé 27ème Édition is a blend of 38 wines from 9 different years, the youngest of which is from 2015, while the oldest dates back to 2005.

It was finished with 10% traditionally macerated 2015 Pinot Noir blended from parcels in Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, to add a unique spiciness, color and structure. Its final composition consists of 57% Pinot Noir, 23% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier.

A stay of around seven years in Krug's cellars gives Krug Rosé 27ème Édition its unique expression and elegance.

Krug Rosé 27ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2015, a year characterized by unprecedented heat and drought, which prevailed from late May to mid-August, slowing down the development of the grapes. Fortunately, rain and reasonable temperatures in the second half of August allowed the berries to grow in optimal conditions. The harvest took place during the rains between 31 August and 21 September, with great heterogeneity from plot to plot.

To create the final blend, this year's wines were mixed with selected reserve wines from 8 other years.

In total, reserve wines from the house's extensive stock made up 55% of the final blend of this edition of Krug Rosé.

More than 100 world-renowned chefs representing 25 countries accepted the challenge. Their original creations are collected in a Krug x Lemon cookbook, which is a unique opportunity to delve into the creative minds of highly acclaimed and extremely talented chefs around the world.

Discover through their original creations how a humble ingredient can be the unifying element that holds flavors, textures and even cultures together. More than a cookbook, "The Zest is Yet to Come" is a meeting of creators - Cellar Master Julie Cavil and Krug Ambassade Chefs - that shows us the limitless inspiration we can tap into when life gives you lemons.

FOUNDED IN 1843

JUG Champagne

Krug is one of the finest houses in Champagne , with a history that goes back to 1843 when the house was founded by Johann-Joseph Krug. They have an easily recognizable style, which is due to the fact that all wine is fermented exclusively in oak barrels, and that the second fermentation on the lees is extra long.
