Description:
Ardbeg 10 Years Old is one of the great whiskey classics. This single malt has long enchanted whiskey lovers with a penchant for heavy smoke and peat, and it is considered by many to be perhaps the best "entry level" single malt on the market. It is bottled at 46% alcohol without chill filtration to retain as much flavor and character as possible.
It has matured in first-fill and second-fill ex-bourbon American Oak Casks.
Colour : Pale golden.
Aroma : Exceptional depth and balance. At full strength, the aroma is a seductive mix of toffee and chocolate sweetness, cinnamon and "medicinal" phenols. Fresh citrus and floral notes of white wine are present as well as notes of melon, pear, caramel cream, fresh sea spray and bonfire.
Tasting notes : Initially there is a moderate and clean sweetness, followed by a mouthful of deep peat smoke. Shades of tobacco and strong espresso appear and then have to give way to syrup and licorice notes. The mouthfeel is slightly spicy, persistent, full and dry.
Serving suggestions : Should be enjoyed neat, possibly with a drop of water.
