What do you think of when you hear “ The Macallan ”? Are you sitting in front of the fireplace on a winter's day with a glass of Macallan in hand? Or do you think of businessmen discussing million-dollar deals over a glass of whiskey and a cigar?
It's not entirely uncommon if it's something that comes to mind when you think of The Macallan.
But is Macallan's Sherry Oak 12 years still worth the money, despite the continuously rising price we've seen in recent years?
As awareness of Macallan has grown significantly, there has been an enormous demand. In addition, not nearly enough has been produced to satisfy this demand, which is still increasing. Furthermore, the company has built a new production plant that will help to pave the way for the latest technology in whiskey production, while at the same time improving the quality - if that is at all possible. The great demand has meant that Macallan has naturally also raised their prices. If this is combined with a supply that is far from the demand, the price is forced up by the suppliers.
" simply the best 12 Year Old single malt around "
This is how the whiskey is described by Paul Pacult, the famous international whiskey writer, in his book, Kindred Spirits. The Macallan is, and always will be, the flagship of whiskey. Quotations such as "whisky's answer to a Rolls Royce" are also not unusual when talking about Macallan.
Try the whiskey which is aged in specially made "sherry seasoned" oak casks for yourself. This bottle radiates the Macallan soul, and should definitely be experienced, smelled and of course tasted!
