Description

Only in the best vintages does Louis Roederer select wines for Brut Vintage. With this wine, Roederer wants to highlight the individual characters of each vintage. 2014 is made from 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay. After the alcoholic fermentation, 20% of the wine underwent a malolactic fermentation, and then 25% of the wine was matured in wooden barrels. 2. the fermentation in bottle lasted for 4 years. The liqueur that is added during the disgorging (liqueur de dosage, 8 g./l. in 2014) is composed of wines from Roederer's best Grand Cru fields, and is aged in cask for 4-10 years.

The wine has a nice light golden color with small, persistent bubbles. In the aroma, it is the Pinot Noir character that dominates with the classic notes that the famous vineyards near the villages of Verzenay and Verzy give; raspberries and cherries. Then follow Chardonnay notes of dried figs and apricots and toasted notes from the wooden barrels. In the taste, the wine has good backbone and fullness. In the aftertaste, you catch notes of white peaches, citrus fruits and rose hips, as well as a touch of vanilla and bitter chocolate. There is a wonderful balance between freshness, firmness, fullness and velour.

The wine belongs to Roederer's powerful champagnes and can therefore easily be served both as an aperitif and with e.g. light meat.
