Scent notes:
You will initially experience a subtle and clean fragrance that appears in two stages. It all begins with the sweetness of white flowers, a hint of black tea and a hint of citrus, kiwi and kumquat. Then you can experience notes of lime blossom, green tea and fern with room for aromas of white fruits such as greengage plums. Finally, chestnut honey, sweet spices, vanilla and marzipan round off the champagne's rich bouquet.
In the taste:
The two stages of the fragrance are included in the taste: living, indulgent and dynamic experience. The taste is dominated by meringue, whipped cream, marzipan, kumquat, blood orange and kiwi which provide refreshing notes. On the finish, the beautiful and fine bubbles appear as an aromatic and smoky experience characterized by freshness and a subtle bitterness. A rich and long-lasting aftertaste.

“The 2013 vintage is so very rare, so pure. True to the classical Rare recipe, its Chardonnay origins include a luxurious amount of Villers-Marmery and Côte de Blancs Grand Cru fruit, without forgetting the all-important 'spice' of Montgueux. The Pinot Noir mix plays with the cool verticality of Verzy and Verzenay, but on a crisp year like this more generosity was lent from for example plush Ambonnay and Bouzy fruit. Intense, shiny bright lemon-green colour. Stunningly refined toasty nose with fine herbal freshness, lemon and birch leaves. There is a lovely vanilla-laden exotic spicy touch to the pineapple and peach fruitiness. Creamy-caressing and salivatingly energetic at the same time. There is a lovely ethereal lightness to the airy whole. Perfectly pure and compact, promising extreme longevity and capacity for majestic complexity. "

“Such a pleasingly elegant and multifaceted Champagne with salty, creamy and toasty elements all wound together. Plenty of apricot pastries, pears, brown butter, fennel and salted almonds, with some iodine. It's silky on the palate, with soft and supple bubbles, while remaining fresh and on edge. 70% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir, from 11 cru villages mostly in Montagne de Reims with Cotes de Blancs.”

Rare Champagne
Rare is a unique prestige cuvée , created in the summer of 1976, when an unprecedented heat wave hit France ( Champagne region ). At Piper-Heidsieck (the creators) they asked the question, could it be possible to create a cuvée given the violent conditions? Taming the forces of nature was no easy task. When the blend was finished and the final mixture bottled, Piper-Heidsieck were so proud of the final product that they called it Rare.
