Double Cask whiskey is aged for a minimum of 18 years in two types of oak, which are specially selected hand-made casks previously matured with dry Oloroso sherry. American oak gives delicate flavors of vanilla, citrus and butterscotch. European oak casks deliver an unmistakably subtle spice of The Macallan that we know so well.

Taste and smell
When the whiskey is matured in its own cask, the two extraordinary whiskeys are combined to create a distinctive single malt with a sweeter, warmer taste and character. Enjoy it neat, over ice or in a delicious cocktail.

The distillery
An obsession with quality has characterized The Macallan since its founding by Alexander Reid on a plateau above the River Spey in north-east Scotland. The distillery is surrounded by a 485 hectare estate with Easter Elchies House at its heart.
