Is there anything better than blanc de blancs, and in the superb 2012 vintage? Castelger delivers the essence of a chardonnay-based champagne with this spot shot, which radiates charm and a classic character of freshly baked bread, acacia and densely packed, ripe fruit. It is of course 100% chardonnay and the dosage is 8 grams per litre.

Colour: Intense golden.

Aroma: Lightly roasted notes, honey, lime and vanilla. Tremendous and seductive.

Tasting notes: In the taste, ripe stone fruit and brioche dance with summer flowers and acacia honey. Elegant, gentle mousse and a luscious acidity that flies in like a spring breeze and cleanses the palate for the next sip.

Serving suggestion: Enjoy it chilled, preferably in a white wine glass rather than the slim flûtes. Serve it with white asparagus with hollandaise and monkfish roe (if the season is right for it), with fried chicken or just as an aperitif with a bowl of good almonds.

Champagne Castelger is located in the heart of a wine village just 6 km west of Epernay. From here they have a view of the Marne valley.

Castelger is a family-run Champagne House, where today it is the 5th generation that is responsible for everything regarding the Champagne House's operation, incl. their 9 hectares of vines. The house is located on the northern hillside of the Marne valley.

Their vines benefit from a semi-continental climate and clay-limestone soil. Cultivation methods are practiced in a traditional way.

They have chosen to produce Champagne with the three main grape varieties, Meunier and Chardonnay, which make up a very large part of their yield (46% and 44%) against only 10% of Pinot Noir.
