Brugal 1888 has depth and complexity, yet is perfectly balanced and smooth. It is distilled through a double pipe system, which helps the rum achieve a degree of purity of 95% prior to storage. This provides optimal storage conditions and means that the finished product is smoother and cleaner than the competitors.
In addition, 1888 is double aged – first in ex-bourbon casks of American white oak for eight years, then first fill ex-sherry casks of European oak for up to six years. The double aging gives 1888 a soft and well-balanced profile with a range of complex flavor notes.
The rum has a deep, clear amber color with red undertones. In the nose, you sense a sophisticated sweetness of red and dried fruits (raisins and dates), which compliment spicy wood notes with hints of cinnamon. The taste is well balanced and soft with body and character. A sweetness of caramel and vanilla balanced with peach, cocoa and cloves characterizes the taste. The aftertaste is remarkably long and elegant with a hint of honey.
Enjoyed neat with or without ice cubes, but can also be used as a mixer in cocktails.
