With this distinguished Cuvée Louis, Billecart-Salmon once again cements their status as one of the absolute giants of Champagne. Few others manage to create such magnificent wines as Billecart-Salmon does year after year.
Cuvée Louis Blanc de Blanc 2012 is, as the name indicates, created exclusively from Chardonnay grapes from the fantastic 2012 vintage, which has proven to be a truly beautiful and aging-worthy vintage in Champagne.
The grapes are harvested from some of the absolute best vineyards in the entire Champagne region, and come exclusively from Grand Cru villages in the Côte des Blancs, home to the very best Chardonnay grapes in Champagne. A third of the wine is aged in oak barrels, which helps to give the wine a wonderfully creamy and potent texture.
In the glass it appears beautiful and golden with myriads of the finest little bubbles that dance lovingly on the tongue. The aroma combines notes of citrus fruit and candied tangerines, ripe pear and pineapple. The taste balances elegantly between fresh citrus, white almonds and brioche.
