Abyss Vintage 2017 is a champagne with a maritime character. To taste it is to discover and appreciate the same mineral qualities found in the chalky and sandy soils of the Champagne terroir where the grapes were grown in 2017.
Smell and taste
Beautifully soft with a ripe fruity nose with red and yellow fruits mixed. The dry palate is super fresh, yet textured with good mouthfeel and an impressive creamy mousse. Outstanding result for the infamous 2017 vintage.
Very limited quantities
This is now the fourth release of Abyss Vintage and is of the 2017 vintage, bottled in spring 2019 and disgorged in early summer 2020 and then on to Brittany where it spent just over 12 months at 60 meters depth before being picked up in autumn 2021.
The grapes that make up this Vintage were harvested from selected champagne villages known for their specific limestone sub-environment. The grapes are grown organically.
