Their distillery sits atop high ground on the southern edge of the kirkwall, thereby keeping watch over the town. In addition to a collection of old stone buildings, they have 23 warehouses and 2 kilns with pagoda tops. Incidentally, although their warehouses are numbered from 1 to 25, there are actually only 23 of them - one of history's little mysteries. For over 220 years, their distillery has survived long winters, raging storms with over 160km/h winds. All of this, they believe, makes for a more harmonious whisky.
